You May Be Messier Than a Great Blue Heron

You May Be Messier Than a Great Blue Heron

You probably don’t need a field guide to know a GBH (Great Blue Heron) when you see one. And if you do open up to its page, you’ll read about its geography, plumage, the difference between adults and teenagers (red flag), and how to be sure you indeed saw one and not a similar species.

Then what?

I’ve once thought about birdwatching like collecting marbles, although ones you cannot keep. But if you sit with a bird long enough, it’s hard not to wonder what they’re trying to teach us.
